Is anyone else out there as excited about the Olympics as i am? Has anyone else out there contemplated changing their ringtone to this? Has anyone else out there found themselves looking to book travel arrangements for a summer vacation to London in 2010?
True confessions: i love the Olympics! When i was in middle school i competed in the Connecticut Nutmeg State Games (Connecticut's state Olympics) twice for synchronized swimming, winning 3 bronze medals. Now, the closest i get to the medals is my Donald Duck medal from the Disney Half Marathon last month.
So, like any self respecting Olympic addict, i have been reading Olympic-related every article i find online, following the athletes from Connecticut, and shopping online for Olympic schwag, of course! What has my searching and reading yielded? Olympic Mascot Controversy!!
Even if you've been half paying attention to the Olympics you may have seen the cute little Olympic Mascots, Miga the Sea Bear, Quatchi the Sasquatch, and Sumi, the Thunderbird. But wait- that's only 3 mascots... How come sometimes you see 4 of them? Who's the little guy with the orange wool hat? oh yea... that's MUKMUK the marmot!

see him? he's the little guy picking up the rear.
Well, after quickly falling in love with little Mukmuk, i started googling him and trying to find out more about this little guy, which brought me to THIS. He is a mascot rebel! (and yes, i already joined the Mukmuk facebook group)... The official Vancouver 2010 online store has a few Mukmuk items, but more importantly, Mukmuk is the second most popular mascot item in the mascot store! and he's only a sidekick!

Problem: i need a Mukmuk, and i need one NOW. Solution: make my own.
After a quick inventory of my felt & embroidery floss, i took a quick trip to AC Moore for some pom poms, and the end result is a Mukmuk!
Here he is in the snow with Sock Monkey watching Hannah Kearney win gold in the women's freestyle moguls.
And here he is waiting to watch the USA men's hockey team.

Whether he's indoors watching Hockey or outside watching the luge or cross country skiing, he'll be ready for anything with a set of his very own Canada mittens to cheer on his country. Yes, he is one stylish little marmot.
Here he is modeling his mittens.
What's on deck? A Quatchi, perhaps?!

And I'm also addicted to the Olympics- the only way I could go to work today is because curling and hockey are being DVRed as we speak. Thank god zumba's cancelled tonight, though!
