back & tan

...from Cape Cod, that is. after a pretty well, lousy summer here in New England, it was nice to be able to get in at least one gorgeous summer weekend up at the Cape! Last year the Mister and i spent Labor Day weekend at a quaint little b&b (but then again, what b&b is not quaint?! This time the trip was a little different. This time it was a girl's weekend, just me and my mom.

We spent two days with my cousin & family, which for me, was the highlight of my trip. My cousin and i are only 3 months apart, and have always been more like sisters than cousins. We went to camp together, cooked together, played with clay together, well, we're just so close i can't even stand it! it's wonderful. so this weekend when i went up with my latest Frency Bag creation (made with Lizzy House's Ugly Duckling fabric) and my mom with the Amy Butler Birdie Swing bag i made her, it was love at first sight... for her! she's never sewn, but my Aunt does, so she can definitely walk her through the process of making one of these simple bags.

We're staying over the first weeken in October- husbands and all- and we'll have an Amy Butler Bag party! The guys will be out on my uncle's boat fishing for the day, and we'll take over the dining room with our sewing machines, ironing boards, and rotary cutters. it's going to be great. Seeing as it's fall, and i don't have a fall-esque bag, i decided i'm going to use bari j's fabulous new Full Bloom fabric line.

I'll be making another frenchy, which in my opinion, is perfect for little short girls like me. Here's what i've chosen:

For the top panel of the bag-

For the main panel of the bag-

The inside lining of the bag-

that says "fall in Cape Cod" don't you think?
